NPSH student earns honor at state computer fair

North Penn High School senior Rebecca Fitzer and North Penn High School junior Spencer Hill recently participated in the Pennsylvania State Computer Fair.

Fitzer’s individual graphic design poster and Fitzer’s and Hill’s collaborative computer fair logo won honors at the regional level to advance to the state level. On May 24th, Fitzer and Hill visited Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA to compete in the state fair. Fitzer’s graphic design poster received second place in the graphic design division of the competition.

The poster was an anti-smoking piece based on the game “Clue.” Written in smoke to the left of a girl holding a cigarette is “Miss Scarlett killed herself with a cigarette.” Fitzer said that the idea of the poster is that choosing to smoke is like playing a game with your life. She used the image of dice tumbling onto the board to show the chances that individuals take when they smoke.

Fitzer originally created the poster as an entrance requirement to the Graphic Arts program at Penn State University, main campus, where she will attend school in the fall.
