Area student win awards at MCCC High School exhibition and competition
Four Perkiomen Valley High School students were awarded prizes in the 33rd Annual Montgomery County High School Exhibition and Competition.
Held at the Fine Arts Center Art Gallery at the Whitpain campus of Montgomery County Community College (MCCC), the show features 250 works of student art. Fifteen public, private and parochial schools submitted work in seven categories. Each school could submit only fifteen of its best artwork, so selected students had already been through a critical judging process in their own school. The show runs through March 25th.
This year in the painting category, judged by MCCC Professor of Art Roger Cairns, Perkiomen Valley students were awarded the following prizes:
· First prize – senior Natalie Watson for her oil painting, “Purity”
· Second prize – senior Amanda Patrylak (pictured at left) for her trompe l’oeil (French for “fool the eye”) oil painting , “Glass House”
· Honorable Mention – senior Georgia Donnelly for her oil portrait, “At Rest”
· Honorable Mention – junior Alexis Kossey for her dramatic sunlit still life in oil, “Susan’s Bowl”
Several other Perkiomen Valley High School students exhibited their artwork at the MCCC art competition:
