Souderton woman named to Phi Beta Kappa
Jennifer Catherine Leedom of Souderton, has been elected to the Lambda of Virginia chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the nation's oldest and most prestigious academic honor society.
Election to membership usually occurs in the spring of the senior year and is done by faculty members who were themselves elected to Phi Beta Kappa as undergraduates. It is an earned academic honor, reflecting academic merit and a sustained commitment to excellence in learning in the liberal arts.
Students elected to membership must demonstrate excellent scholarship, and at least three fourths of their course work must be in the liberal arts, including college mathematics, two years of the same foreign language or equivalent intermediate proficiency, and a laboratory science. To be elected, a student must demonstrate breadth and depth of knowledge, as well as a commitment to academic integrity and ethical behavior.
The inductees were honored publicly at a formal initiation ceremony on May 21, during Mary Baldwin's commencement weekend.
