Two graduate from Haverford College
Haverford College is pleased to announce the graduation of Joy Heller, daughter of James Heller of Harleysville, and a 2006 graduate of Souderton Area Senior High School. One of 299 members of Haverford’s Class of 2011, Heller received a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, with a minor in Dance from Swarthmore College during commencement ceremonies in Haverford, Pa., on Sunday, May 15.
The title of Heller’s Senior Thesis, which is the capstone of the Haverford academic experience, is Geographies of Home: Cultural Identity in Transnational Korean Adoption
While studying at Haverford, Heller received a grant from the Center for Peace and Global Citizenship to do a self-designed Internship titled “Urban Art and Community Recovery: Rebuilding New York’s Chinatown Post 9/11.” Additionally, she shared her love of writing with the community by working as a staff writer for the Bi-C.
Also, Patrick IlJeong Seo, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kwang Seo of North Wales, and a graduate of North Pennsylvania High School was one of 299 members of Haverford’s Class of 2011, Seo received a bachelor’s degree in Biology.
The title of Seo’s Senior Thesis, which is the capstone of the Haverford academic experience, is The Role of NFY in The Transcriptional Upregulation of Nur77. He conducted his Thesis research with Haverford Biology Professor Jennifer Punt.
