NPHS student earns scholarship
North Penn High School senior Shayne Dwyer was recently awarded with the KYW Newsradio Richard Monetti Scholarship. Dwyer, one of the 171 students to graduate from KYW Newsradio’s 2010 Newstudies program, received a $2,000 college scholarship. The award was announced at the Newstudies Graduation ceremony on April 6th at The Franklin Institute.
The Richard Monetti Scholarship is awarded every year to the Newstudies student who demonstrates the most potential and enthusiasm throughout the six-week student reporter program. The scholarship is named for Richard Monetti, a 1986 Newstudies graduate who was killed in the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland, in 1988. Richard’s parents, Bob and Eileen Monetti were on hand to announce the winner of the 2010 Monetti Scholarship.
