Local woman receives research grant
Kristen Imboden, a senior education major from Lansdale, is among 13 students from the Shippensburg University Honors Program that have received grants to support their undergraduate research and creative projectsduring the 2010-2011 academic year.
The university’s Institute for Public Service recentlyannounced more than $7,100 would be awarded to Honors Program students.
The students’ undergraduate research and creative projects span a variety of fields,including elementary and secondary education, psychology, history, English, theatre arts, humanresource management, physics, and biology, and will take multiple forms, including laboratoryresearch, field work, and artistic projects.
Imboden's project: “Leading Reading:Improving Literacy Education in the Dominican Republic,” focuses on researching best practices in literacy instruction and implement and evaluate literacy-related strategies in teacher training workshops.
