Souderton Area HS names students of the month

Students from Souderton Area High School have been named as Students of the Month for December. Students are nominated by their teachers for showing exceptional characteristics such as responsibility, leadership, respect, honesty, and citizenship.
Freshman Andrew Curotto, also known as AJ, is a shooting guard on the high school basketball team. His favorite subject is math because he likes working with numbers and is considering a future career in business. He is the son of Jim and Chris Curotto of Harleysville.

Freshman Amanda Cole, divides her time out of the classroom between horseback riding, voice lessons, and hip-hop and modern dance. She loves to sing and not surprisingly says chorus is her favorite class. She hopes to go to college after high school to become an equine veterinarian and run a rescue farm for endangered and retired horses. She is the daughter of Steve and Lisa Cole of Harleysville.

Sophomore Ridgley Schultz, also known as Ridge, plays the position of middie on the boys’ lacrosse team. He volunteers at Grandview Hospital and serves on the Principal’s Student Advisory Council and tenth grade student government. His favorite subject is physics. He enjoys conducting experiments and learning why and how things work. His future plans include college and lacrosse. He is the son of Sandy and Greg Schulte of Harleysville.

Sophomore Rebekah Hershey, also known as Bekah, is a member of Students Against Violating the Earth (SAVE). She plays field hockey and lacrosse and is active with her youth group. She says science is her favorite subject because she enjoys learning about the environment. She hopes to attend Boston University one day. She is the daughter of Pete and MJ Hershey of Harleysville.

Junior Alexander Cupo, also known as Cupo, is vice president of the Leo Club and is a member of Students Against Violating the Earth (SAVE), National Honor Society, and Ace Mentoring. He plays the cello in the orchestra. Alex loves learning about the history of our country and the world. He follows current events and wants to be involved with policy to be more informed about the way our country operates. He is the son of Al and Julia Cupo of Harleysville.

Junior Christina Harris is the secretary of Key Club. She is a member of student government, Link Crew, Movement (Bible study), National Honor Society, CASH tutor, and concert choir. Away from school she plays the piano and is very involved in her church. Her favorite subjects are science and First Aid. She enjoys seeing how everything fits together and plans to attend college to major in nursing. She is the daughter of Bruce and Sherry Harris of Harleysville.

Senior Nicholas Spause, also known as Nick, is recognized for his athletic performance on the high school football team as captain and right tackle. Math is Nick’s favorite subject. He is fielding offers from a variety of colleges and hopes to study sports management and business when he decides. He is the son of Dave and Sharon Spause of Harleysville.

Senior Kathryn Kundrod, is the president of the National Honor Society, the business manager of the student newspaper, The Arrowhead, commissioner of Link Crew, coordinator for the CASH tutoring program, and serves as one of the student representatives to the school board. She is also a member of the school leadership team, student council, and Students Against Violating the Earth (SAVE). Her favorite subjects are physics and calculus because she likes problem solving. Kathryn hopes to study biomedical engineering after high school. She is the daughter of Jim and Gita Kundrod of Harylesville
