Area student named to Dean's List at Washington University in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, MO -- The following area resident was named to the Dean's List for the fall 2009 semester at Washington University in St. Louis.

Kristen Marie Valaika of Harleysville was named to the Dean's List for the fall 2009 semester at Washington University in St. Louis. Valaika is a graduate of Gwynedd Mercy Academy in Lower Gwynedd, and is enrolled in the university's Olin Business School.

To make the Dean's List in the Olin Business School, a student must earn a semester grade point average of 3.6 or higher and be enrolled in at least 12 hours of graded course work.

Local Indiana University students recognized

The following local students have been recognized as a Provost Scholar at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Colmar: Ashley E. Mandes, Criminology
Hatfield: Brittany R. Allman, Physical Education and Sport
North Wales: Danielle R. Eppinger, Physical Education and Sport
Souderton: Angela N. DeGennaro, Education of Exceptional Persons; Laura C. Roberts, Hospitality Management

At the start of the fall semester, any undergraduate student who meets the following requirement is eligible to be named a Provost Scholar: a current junior with a minimum of 45 semester hours earned at IUP with a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher. Provost Scholar recognition is given only once during a student's time of study at IUP.

Temple student inducted into Golden Key International Honour Society

David M. Glinski, son of Robert and Mary Glinski of Hatfield, was inducted into the Golden Key International Honour Society at Temple University in December. The organization is a global honor society that provides recognition to top performing colleges and university students. Glinski is a history major and will graduate in January 2011. He is a 2006 Lansdale Catholic graduate.

Chalfont student participates in Academic Excellence Conference

Judd Faulkner of Chalfont presented on Representations of Women in the Golden Age of Rap at the recent Keene State College's 10th Annual Academic Excellence. The student professional conference is designed to showcase the academic work of Keene State students and the collaborative work between students and faculty. It allows students to share excellent work with a broad audience, and prepares them for submitting proposals to professional conferences.

Lansdale students make Dean's List

The following students are on the Dean’s List for their outstanding academic achievement for the Fall 2009 semester from Harpur College of Arts and Sciences at Binghamton University, State University of New York.
The criteria for the Dean’s Honors list is a minimum grade point average of 3.5.

Juah Lee — North Wales

Ambler student on Dean's list

ST. LOUIS Michele Moyer Rudolph of Ambler, PA (19002), was named to the Dean's List for the fall 2009 semester at Washington University in St. Louis. Rudolph is a graduate of Wissahickon High School in Ambler, PA, and is enrolled in the university's School of Engineering & Applied Science.

To qualify for the Dean's List in the School of Engineering, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.60 or above and be enrolled in at least 12 graded units.

Local student musicians make Berklee Dean's List

BOSTON - Berklee College of Music announces the Dean's List for the fall semester of the 2009 academic year. To be eligible for this honor, a full-time student must achieve a grade point average of 3.4 or above; a part-time student must achieve a grade point average of 3.6 or above. The following local students have earned placement on the Dean's List for the fall semester of the 2009 academic year:

Crazy hat day


Lower Salford Elementary School’s Student Council recently sponsored a Crazy Hat Day in order to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Students donated money for pediatric research in order to wear a crazy hat they created.

North Wales music major

NEW WILMINGTON - Eight students received travel/presentation grants from Westminster College's Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning to attend the Pennsylvania Intercollegiate Band March 12-14 in West Chester. Among them was Patrick Dolan, a junior music performance major, is a son of Gerard and Christine Dolan of North Wales and a graduate of Roman Catholic High School.

The students participate in a number of instrumental groups and ensembles under the direction of Dr. R. Tad Greig , associate professor, director of bands, and chair of Westminster's Department of Music.
