North Penn JROTC cadets help area families


JROTC cadets helped deliver Angel Gifts to Norristown Family Center.  This collaborative effort between SKF Inc on Forty Foot Road and NPHS JROTC in Towamencin helps numerous area families celebrate the holiday season.

Hatfield graduate earns slot on Susquehanna Dance Team

SELINSGROVE — Kaitlyn Kinsey, of Hatfield, has been selected as a member of the 2012–13 Susquehanna University Dance Team.
The dance team performs at all home men’s and women’s basketball games and at several campus and community events throughout the academic year. The auditioned group is composed of fourteen dancers.
Kinsey, a senior communications major, is a 2009 graduate of North Penn High School and is the daughter of Karen and Jeffrey Kinsey.

North Penn High School students selected to the Montco Honors String Orchestra


LANSDALE – The North Penn School District announced that North Penn High School students Anisa Eshraghi, Poojita Sharan, Jiyoon Song, Layla Annous, Christopher You and Matt Hinkle have been selected to represent the district in the 2012 Montgomery County Honors String Orchestra. 
This year’s festival is being hosted by Diana Helmetag, Orchestra Director at Upper Merion High School.  The guest conductor will be Yoon Jae Lee.  Mr. Lee is the founder and artistic director of the Ensemble 212 in NYC, Music Director of the Old York Road Symphony, and a teacher at the City College of New York, CUNY.  The concert will be held at Upper Merion High School on Friday, November 9, beginning at 7 p.m.

LANSDALE – The North Penn School District is thrilled to announce that 15 North Penn High School students were recognized as commended scholars in the 2012-2013 National Merit Scholarship Competition (NMSC). Congratulations to the following students on this honor:

Approximately 34,000 Commended Students throughout the United States are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. These students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the competition by taking the 2011 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

The National Merit Scholarship Award recipients, including the 11 semi-finalists announced earlier this month, will be honored  at a breakfast to be held at North Penn High School.

Students recognized at Albright College

The following local students were named to the dean's list at Albright College for the 2011-2012 fall semester:

Spencer honored at Cottey College

Jessical L. Spencer, daughter of Mary and Jack Spencer of North Wales, was honored for her scholastic achievement during the 2011 fall semester at Cottey  College, MO.
She was named to the dean's list for the fall 2011 semester.

Students honored at Moravian College.

The following students earned dean's list standing for the fall semester of the 2011-2012 school year at Moravian College, Bethelehem:
Katherine Robbins, daughter of Helen Loidl of Harleysville.
Melissa Zirkel, daughter of Paul and Denise Zirkel of Earlington.
Aisling Housel, a graduate of North Penn High School, Towamencin.

Parkins named to 'Who's Who'

Emily Parkins, a senior general management major at Shippensburg University, was named  to "Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges."
Parkins is the daughter of Bob and Kim Parkins of Harleysville and a 2008 graduate of Souderton Area High School.  She was named a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference  scholar athlete three times, designated as a National Fastpitch Coaches Association Scholar Athlete for 2010-11 and is vice president of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee.

Venturini named to Honors List at Cedarville

Tara Venturini,, daughter of Dale and Judy Venturini of Hatfield, was named to the Dean's Honors List for the 2012 Spring Semester at Cedarville University. She is majoring in Allied Health.

Oertel graduates from Eastern University

Brianna Oertel, of Telford ,recently graduated from Eastern University with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. She is the daughter of William and Shari Schick and an alumna of Souderton Area High School.
